Still in the absence of wind and cosmic

touch lies the lonely prints with earth

above as witness, but there’s no confetti

raining down, where noise becomes still.

Dust becomes proof that being here mattered.

Utilitarian good for the greatest number

started the memory in nineteen sixty-nine.

Tread patterns of all we were - still waiting to begin.


Nicky is a poet, author and visual artist. She has a background in Psychology and is a member of Mensa. Her art has appeared in Rattle, Reckoning Press and First Strike. Her writing has appeared in Novellum, Lorelei Signal, Macabre Magazine and is forthcoming in the Poetry Lighthouse.
