Beneath endless sky,

on a shoreline far away,

a lonely blue-footed booby

stood gazing out to sea.

That day of magic,

turning his neck, he saw

a vision pure and glistening,

unlike any seen before.

Snowy white was her body,

wings a glossy brown;

her lustrous eyes, her shapely neck

awoke his courtship dance.

Blue feet he percussed,

head lifted to sky above;

wings spread wide, he raised his tail

and danced, beseeching love.

Her every fiber trembled,

in cadence to his feet;

she resonated with his rhythm,

till their hearts in unison beat.

Through many seasons’ union,

their tender love would grow

blossoming into bliss

beneath endless sky.

I was Georgy's batchmate and hostelmate in medical school. Apart from excelling in academics, he was musician and guitarist during those days. Good to see another aspect of his multifaceted personality manifesting now as a poet.
