Meet Gary, a middle aged, working class man who’s down on his luck. He’s been fired from several jobs recently. His savings have dried up too. These circumstances have left him destitute. He’s relinquished his time to wandering around the city. This aimless wandering has progressed for 3 months with no discernible solution. Finally, he comes to an end. His body is aching, crying out for rest. It aches of pain, loss, and wandering. It cries out for a solution, but sees none. Wishing for escape, to be free from time Gary rests for a while inside an alley in the city. On the ground against the grey wall he sits. Days turn to months. He’s spent so much time resting in that one spot that his skin has turned the color of the building. People have changed too, accelerating in a whir of color. Time accelerates while Gary stays still. One day a man stops and looks at Gary. He walks over and bends down and asks, “Are you alright sir?” Gary didn’t look at him. All he could do was whisper. He opened his mouth and said, “I’m… unmoored”. A look of confusion struck the man’s face. He didn’t know how to respond to that. He turned around and left.
